School’s process for Business School applicants is not based solely on the excellence of candidates, diversity is important to the admission committee, and schools work hard to make sure that they get the balance they want on their courses.
Although there is no “ideal” candidate, there are certainly a number of things the applicants must have in place. Given the financial and professional commitment involved in taking an MBA, Business Schools seek to see candidates who have done their homework and are fully informed about the school’s MBA program. Before you make your application, you need to know what the academic, professional, and personal requirements are, and whether you can meet them.
The first step is to take the time to explore the websites of the schools you are applying to. You may need to read my article on what you can do to get accepted to MBA school. It will give you more insights on how you can prepare your Business School application.
I cannot over-emphasize the importance of beginning the application process as early as possible. Although this is no guarantee of a place, historically, schools have found out that their strongest candidates have been those that placed an application by the end of the year preceding the start of the course. So, start your application early even if you might change your mind about applying to that school.
